PHOENIX BALL 2011 TO CELEBRATE MISSISSAUGA’S HEALTHCARE SUCCESS

The Mississauga Board of Chinese Professionals & Businesses (CPB) will hold its 13th annual Phoenix Ball on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at the International Centre in Mississauga to fundraise for The Credit Valley Hospital, Trillium Health Centre, and the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care.

The ball’s theme this year is “Celebrating Mississauga’s Healthcare Success”, and it will pay tribute to the principals of the three recipients for their outstanding contributions to the health care network in Mississauga, namely Janet Davidson, President & CEO of Trillium Health Centre; Michelle DiEmanuele, President & CEO of The Credit Valley Hospital; and Dr. Joseph Y.K. Wong, Founder of the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care.

“The partnership between CPB and Yee Hong has been legendary. It certainly is a big reason for the successful completion of the Mississauga Yee Hong Centre. It also gave rise to the Phoenix Ball which is now benefiting many worthy health care causes in the region and beyond,” stated Dr. Joseph Y.K. Wong.

Michelle DiEmanuele shared this viewpoint and noted, “The generosity of our community has given life to our goal of ‘healing and hope’. With the leadership of such groups as CPB, we are able to response to our growing community’s health care needs.”

All three CEO’s were delighted to be chosen as Honorary Co-Chairs of the Ball, with Janet Davidson adding, “CPB is a great supporter of health care in Mississauga, and I look forward to having a wonderful time at the event."

The Phoenix Ball is one of the main social events hosted by the Chinese community in Mississauga. More than 700 people attend the event every year. Guests were treated to a high quality level of entertainment, and this year will be no different with performances by renowned Canadian Tenor Michael Ciufo and Canadian-Chinese songstress Jane Lu. Once again, there will be an impressive array of items available in the live and silent auctions.
